I POLITELY asked that if it wasn't looked at by noon, that he let me know so I can take it somewhere else ... that's when Ken got REAL nasty with me. "Just come pick it up, it'll be waiting for you", he says to me. "We're a laid back place and we won't be pressured to do the work." As if calling to follow up a job that has taken a week is "pressuring". I simply asked when it would be looked at. "My guys are OLD and LAZY" is what he told me. What business owner/employer ADMITS that to a PAYING customer..and a returning one, at that?
I'm a business owner and for another business owner (Horton's) to get SO upset at me for following up and telling me "just come pick it up, it'll be waiting for you" is very disappointing. We've used Horton's one other time and it was a pleasant experience. This time around was a complete 180 and we were treated like our business wasn't needed or wanted.
The day we dropped it off, Ken (owner) tells me it will be looked when (and IF!) his guy shows up. Apparently, he has ONE good mechanic that shows up whenever he wants. Ken's "ok" with this because he's "so good". I called back Tuesday of this week (truck was dropped off Thursday of last week) to follow up. Same story, "my guy won't show up, so it hasn't been looked at". Called today to follow up...same story, "my guy hasn't shown up".
Needless to say, I'd steer clear from Horton's. They've lost a good customer. I own 3 vehicles and it's nice to find RELIABLE / HONEST / KIND service. I didn't get any of that at Horton's.
Donald is the best mechanic I've run across, friendly, fair prices. They are willing to go the extra mile
